David Francis O'Leary

Savannah- Mr. David Francis O'Leary died Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Hospice Savannah, Inc.
He was born in Savannah on December 9, 1928, the fourth son of Joseph A. and Katherine Ciucevich O'Leary. He as preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Grenier O'Leary and his parents.
He is survived by his two daughters, Sandy Hair Wilson of Panama City, FL and Jenni Scott Bernie of Trussville, AL; seven grandchildren, Jayson Evans, Adam Evans Sarah, Lauren Medina Javier, Jennifer Mayo Hal, Rebecca Scott, Angela Scott and B.J. Scott; four great-grandchildren, Gavin and Gisele Medina and Payton and Presley Evans; three brothers, Joseph O'Leary Bette of Savannah, Daniel O'Leary Mary Kay of Tybee Island and John O'Leary Carolyn of Georgetown, SC as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his faithful dog, B.J.
Mr. O'Leary was a graduate of Cathedral School 1943 and Benedictine Military School class of 1947. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1951 with a Bachelor of Forestry Degree and went to work for International Paper Company, starting in Homerville, GA. His next assignment was in Panama City, FL where he met and married his wife, Jeanne, and where his daughters were born. Later he was transferred to Mobile, AL and from there to headquarters in Dallas, TX from where he retired in 1985. His retirement years were spent in his hometown of Savannah on Whitemarsh Island. He was a communicant of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church where he was astlawart member of the Men's Club. Other memberships include the Hibernian Society of Savannah since 1969 and the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee.
Mass of Christian Burial: 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May14, 2009 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with Msgr. P. James Costigan, Celebrant. Mr. O'Leary's grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Hibernian Society and Benedictine Class of 1947 are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers.
Burial: Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
